Shop

I'm thinking of starting an on-line vintage shop, probably on etsy. I wonder if this is a good way to make some extra money or will it just end up costing me more. I am not good with money or business at all. In fact this whole idea started because I am short money this month and I was thinking of selling some clothes to get by. I'm short because I spent too much on other peoples birthday get togethers and presents and also for spending too much on making a Halloween costume. I also bought myself a few vintage things I didn't need. I don't end up wearing a lot of my vintage all that much. If I had a shop I could wear somethings a few times and then pass them along for a profit. Also if someone saw me wearing something and wanted it for themselves I could offer to sell it to them for a profit. I also have a really nice camera to take photos of the clothes and a dress form to display them on. I need to think about this and possibly come up with some sort of plan.

Living Dead Girl

On Saturday Amanda and I went to the Day of the Dead celebration at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. I mean to go every year but it never works out. Finally this year I went and I am so glad I did. I love how people go all out for it and the colors were breathtaking, also yummy food and crafts! Here are a few of my favorite but tons more on my flickr page that I'm downloading right now.

After the Day of the Dead I went to the ice skating rink in Pasadena for Rick's birthday celebration on ice. We played Broomball. It is sort of like hockey only you wear sneakers on the ice and there is a ball instead of a puck and you play with a stick that has a slightly wider plastic bit on the end. It was a lot of fun but I ended up getting home pretty late sense I had to be up early this morning for my work photo shoot which took 12 hours. Now I am off to sleep.

Need to go to the gym tonight but want to work on Halloween costume. Chances of me looking good in my costume greatly increased by going to the gym. Damn.

Christine Is this You?

Someone left this on my desk

Love this hair and make-up. I have to try this, though I guess I have bands to deal with now. So pretty!

Fa-fa-fa-fashion

So I started the fashion log back up for those that are interested. You can find it by clicking the link on the right in my photo section. Today features the dress I broke my no buying clothes for 6 months promise for. I don't plan to update it every day but every now and then is nice.

Wild Thing I Think I Love You

On Saturday night Lindsey and I went to see Where the Wild Things Are. I knew it looked really cool and I have been looking forward to seeing it for some time. I wasn't really prepared to be as touched as I was by it. There were parts of the movie I just found so delightful and happy. But what really got me was the way they showed the scary and sad ways one can treat the ones they love the most. It seems like the closer you are with someone the more power they have over you with every little thing they do. Whenever someone is so emotionally deep inside you every action and word counts in ways that are unfair at times and often 1 sided. I loved the honesty of being powerless to really change someone else's emotions and all you can really take from it is the lessons of how you yourself can change for the better. Or at least that's what I got from watching it but I was probably just projecting.

I suppose I went about this the wrong way. I was reading more about the manual side of my camera tonight and apertures and shutter speeds. I get antsy when reading so I walked around the block and snapped a few photos. I should really start out in daylight. I also tried to get a tripod this weekend but I wasn't prepared for how much they cost. Maybe next paycheck but not this one. All the shots tonight were crap but I think I am starting to understand more about things. I just get board of reading sometimes and I tend to learn more by fucking up and learning from my mistakes.

Treasure Hunt

I went to the Long Beach Flea market today to look for some prints for work. I ended up, of course, getting myself some things too. But hey, I got all this and the price to get in for under $100 so that's not too bad.

I got this dress for myself. I have a very hard time asking less money for things but I thought it was worth half of what they tagged it as and they let me have it for half price.

I got this cute little French postcard framed. I think she is so cute.

I got this one for myself as well.

Bought these for work. They could make cool hardware on the suits.

Bought this print for work. The coloring needs work though.

I liked this flower for work as well. The rest of the flowers aren't very cute so I will have to have this one worked on.

I was there for 4 hours and now I want to take a nap.

The Sound of Silence

In the last week or two I've had a cricket problem in my apartment. For the life of me I could not figure out where the noise was coming from. It has driving me past the point of sanity. All the time with there noise and you could tell it was coming from somewhere inside the apartment because it was so loud. So today while I was cleaning I finally saw one of them. He hopped up from a place in my kitchen where the tile is coming a bit up by the back door. So I got out a can of Raid I have and I sprayed under that area and sure enough 5 crickets come hopping out and died. Then it was the most beautiful sound I have heard in weeks. It was silence, glorious wonderful silence. I'm sorry little crickets for killing you but you were making me lose my mind and you don't even help pay the rent so you just couldn't stay. I also found a bag of gummy bears while cleaning I forgot I bought. It is a day of winning! Unless you are a cricket or a gummy bear, then it is just a day of death.

I Want Candy

The claw of candy is back! Every year the jerks in the tech department put a bowl of Halloween candy out by the color copier. I make a lot of color copies in a day. So standing there I am of course tempted by the candy. But it is in one of those fucking bowls that has a creepy hand in it that comes down when it detects movement and then it says "Happy Halloween" or Want some candy?" It pisses me off. And the room is so quite and then everyone looks up at you. I hate it!!! but I can't resist it! I just want candy, don't shame me for it!

I Am Fail

Cheesy

I was in Trader Joes tonight and I discovered Truffle Cheese. I thought it sounded like heaven. I couldn't wait to get home and try it. As soon as I got in the door I went into the kitchen and cut a slice. It wasn't bad but I didn't think it was anything special. In theory I like Truffle Cheese more then I do in reality. I think I might be relationship Truffle Cheese. I think every guy likes me in theory a lot more then they like actual me. Then I felt lame for comparing myself to cheese. But then I sort of liked Truffle Cheese after this. So in conclusion my accomplishment for the evening is to emotionally bond with a piece of cheese.

Hungover

Man, I am tired as hell from my 3 days in Vegas. Not sure if I have it in me for a re-cap. If a photo is worth a 1000 words, here is my novel about my trip to Vegas.

The road's going to end on me

I feel like I have all this misplaced anger the last few days and it's making me act out in ways I'm not proud of. Need to find healthier ways of dealing with it. My current solution is to skip town for a few days. Sometimes running away from your problems can be fun.

Teeth

I feel so burnt out. I have no desire to leave the apartment today. So far I watched "Stealing Beauty" and "Fur". Next up is "Sex and Lucia." These are 3 of my favorite movies that I don't own and got again on Netflix. I just want to stay in and be by myself and watch beautiful movies about women discovering themselves and the world they live in. I am in general a social person but today is some much needed me time. Hmmm, wish I had so food though. Part of not wanting to leave the apartment means postponing my Sunday grocery shopping till tomorrow. After this movie I want to read more from my book I started "You Shall Know Our Velocity". I momentary put it down to read about my camera which I still have a lot more to read about sense I'm only on page 20 of my 300+ book. I mean the point and shoot shots aren't bad that I took but I know that I need to learn more about lighting and manual focus plus the video feature. Back to my new book though, here is a line I love "Why when we see a half-broken mirror do we want it all broken? We see the shards rising from the pane and we long to knock them out, one by one, like teeth."

Slumin' It

Terry had her birthday slumber party at the Marrot in Marina Del Rey last night. There was hot tubing, and tons of junk food, games, drinks, girly movies, and yes even porn! I was downloading the photos when my computer froze and I thought I lost them forever but remembered that they might be stored in the computer. Hooray I retrieved them. Here are a few. The rest of them are here Terry's B'day

Flying High

Took the new camera out for the first time to Hazel's birthday at the Korean Bell for some kite flying fun.

Friday, October 2, 2009

It took everything in me not to stay home with my new toy tonight but I was good and went to Alex's bowling birthday. I've only had enough time to do basic attachment of strap, battery charge, and time/date set upon the camera. Now it is past midnight and time for bed boo. Here's a first test shot to make sure camera works and I can upload. Want to play/learn, need to sleep, not enough hours in the day.

Snaps

I got my new SLR camera! I couldn't be happier, it's beautiful! I can't wait to start figuring it out and playing with it. This blog seems like a good spot to post my progress with it. Just don't judge me too harsh in the beginning. This is a serious camera and it is going to take me awhile to learn my way around it. Good god, I am so happy, ridiculously happy.
