i choo choo choose you

I love all the tacky wonderful Valentines Day decorations out there right now. I thought I'd sketch some designs based on the ruffled, laced, red delights. Enjoy.

1 Happy Clam

What a wonderful time I have been having. I am going to go out and enjoy my last day of vacation but thought I would do a re-cap before I force myself out of bed.

On Friday a little after noon I met up with Erin and Amanda and we departed for Palm Springs. It had been raining all week and it wasn't looking promising for our trip. On the way there we were treated to a beautiful view of snowy mountains but my favorite thing along the way was this big pumpkin patch field with cows in it. Pumpkins and cows were adorable. We got to the house and met up with the others, I think there were 21 of us in total. The house was beautiful with a pool and hot tub and big patio. It was still raining on Friday night but I still wanted to hot tub. The tub wasn't all that hot and I didn't last long. There was much drinking and merriment. The next morning I woke up and got directly i the pool first thing. It was so beautiful and peaceful out. Amanda was awesome and prepared and cooked all our meals that weekend with were so tasty. We had French toast that morning and I seriously could have sat around eating it all day long. Then we split into 3 groups. Byron and Alex went to the casino, most of the guys drank insane amounts of beer and hung out by the pool all day (the sun had come out), and I joined the group that went to the second highest peak in SoCal for a airline tram ride to the top. There was a large crowd of people that wanted to get to all the fresh snow. I was terribly under dressed for the trip but luckily I didn't spend too much of my time outside. At the top I had lunch and wonderful alcoholic coffee drink. The whole thing ended up taking all day so by the time we got back it was just about time to eat dinner. After dinner we played trivia which Alex had come up with all the questions and was amazing. Then there was much drinking and cake and pie and a pool that heated up even hotter then the hot tub which was so wonderful underneath the stars. After another wonderful breakfast on Sunday we headed back to LA. I didn't end up doing much with the rest of my day but watch movies and rest. Then the next morning (Monday) I drove down to San Diego. My brother was working during the day so I went to some vintage shops and a cafe to read for a bit and just bummed around. Then in the evening we got some drinks and dinner at a local pub. We stayed up watch movies and playing with his cat who like to run into boxes like Maru. The next morning I went to Balboa Park and got the 5 museum pass and spent the day enjoying that. In the evening we met up with some of my brother's friends and got some Thai food and then headed off to watch Avatar in 3D Imax. I didn't think I would really like the movie but it was totally fun and entertaining though the 3D really makes the movie. Then I packed up and left yesterday morning for LA. Last night I had my birthday party at The Well and was so delighted that people actually came out on a week night. I had a great time and am way surprised I didn't wake up hungover this morning. So now off to enjoy the beautiful day outside. I really needed this time off to remind myself how wonderful and fun life really is and I am so happy to have so many amazing people to share it with.

Cause nobody loves me it's true, not like you do

I've gotten into this terrible habit. It started out as a joke. When I would leave the gym I would check my phone for text messages. When I didn't have any I laughed to myself and jokingly thought 'Nobody loves me.' Well for some reason my mind keeps thinking this when I check my phone after my workout and don't see anything new on it which is pretty much everyday sense I barely use my phone. So this has been going on a few month now out of some weird mental habit and it only recently occurred to me that I hate thinking this everyday. I'm not really sure how to get to stop myself from doing this. I'm not the type of person that would equate love with text messaging or that would need that type of hallow validation. I'm sort of annoyed with myself.

Wanted Dead or Alive

Last night was Lisa's 27th birthday party. Sense so many musicians die at 27 the theme was "Come Dead or Alive" dressed as your favorite dead musician or celebrity. I decided to keep with the tragic rocker theme and goes as Nancy Spungen. I was a bit embarrassed leaving the apartment looking the way I did and that wig sure was not doing me any attractive favors. I had a blast though and ended the night with some late night living room dance party. Here are a few of the photos, you can see the rest here Come Dead or Alive

I'm Mad

I admit, I totally bought this dress at the flea market today because it reminded me of this dress from Mad Men. Plus I just really liked it and it fits perfect and was $15

Dear Addy

I went to school with a girl named Abby that was a grade above me. Before Facebook all we had were yearbooks to secretly look people up with. One day I noticed she had a sister in the same grade that looked just like her named Addy. I assumed they were identical twins. I never really knew her but I saw them around a lot for a few years and always wondered which one was which. One day I was talking to one of them when I asked which twin she was. She looked at me so perplexed and said she didn't have a twin. I built this twin out of my imagination because my dyslexic brain kept flipping the the b to a d in the name Abby. I totally forgot about this but then I heard the name Addie the other day and I felt flush with embarrassment for creating a fictional twin.

America's Next Top Model I'm Not

So last Sunday I started working on my on-line vintage shop. It isn't up yet and won't be for awhile. On Sunday I took photos of myself in the clothes, I think 35 items total. Not sure why I got the bug to start this on Sunday sense this week is my first week back in the gym sense before the holidays and I feel puffy. I need a front, side, and back view of all the outfits. The last few nights I have started photographing the clothes on the dress form and detail shots and now I'm starting to write down measurements. I need to finish that and then start writing descriptions. Tonight I was feeling a bit lazy and just wanted to lay around so I downloaded all the photos I have so far and started editing and sorting and cropping. Let me tell you, looking at myself from every angle is not fun. Some photos are okay and some make me wonder why I nver took a good hard look at what my outfit was doing in the back before I bought it. It is a an eye opening night.

Shake Your Bootie

I had a fantastic New Years Eve that I haven't gotten a chance to talk about until now. A group of us met at Amanda's for some pre-drinking action. Then we headed over to the bus stop like responsible lushes. The buses were free on NYE. And you know what, taking the bus with friends and a few drinks in me was pretty fun. This is coming from someone that normally hates the bus. So we headed over to club Bootie at the Echoplex to dance the night away. It was super fun but went by in a blur. I actually barely remember it. Afterwards we all went to the taco truck to get some warm food which at the time tasted so good. Then we caught the bus back. Over al a successful night.

Flying High

The birds are chirping so loud outside my apartment they woke me up. I have never heard them so loud. I guess they are happy with the beautiful weather we are having and so am I. I would chirp too if I could. When I was driving to Trader Joes on the traffic light at the intersection of Santa Monica and La Brea there were birds everywhere. The whole post was absolutely covered in birds. Something is going on with the birds today.

loungewear

I bought myself the most ridiculous lounging at home vintage number. This is pretty much all I've had on sense the new year. I am a tea guzzling lounging fool. This outfit is ridiculous haha

p.s. yes, I know I should brush my hair and put on some make-up at some point but that point is not now :)

Happy New Year

Birds flying high you know how I feel
Sun in the sky you know how I feel
Breeze driftin' on by you know how I feel

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Fish in the sea you know how I feel
River running free you know how I feel
Blossom in the trees you know how I feel

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Dragonflies out in the sun you know what I mean, don't you know
Butterflies all havin' fun you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when the day is done
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For me

Stars when you shine you know how I feel
Scent of the pine you know how I feel
Oh freedom is mine
And I know how I feel

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good
